with the contribution of the Embassy of Israel in Italy
in collaboration with the Festival Le Danzatrici En Plein Air/Compagnia Menhir

I carry, you hold by the Israeli-chilean choreographer Olivia Court Mesa premiered in November 2019 as part of the “Curtain Up Festival” in Israel, winning the Best Dance Performers award 2022 by the Israeli Ministry of Culture and subsequently the RIDCC (Rotterdam International Duet Choreographic Competition) award. Two performers, a man and a woman interact on stage in a space filled with unyielding physical actions: the relationship between them is shaken and constantly redefined, until every type of hierachy disappears. Their bodies meet while keeping their independence, they listen to each other, becoming aware of a physicality “other” than their own and creating a balance where there is neither winning nor losing. A contact improvisation show with strong expressive force.
